Ticonderoga AttractionsDay One Spend the day at Fort Ticonderoga! There's plenty to see and do at the Fort. At the admissions area you will receive a schedule of the day's activities. Throughout the day are activities including musket demonstrations and guided tours. During July and August you can watch a Fife & Drum Corps performance followed by a cannon firing. Visit the Fort's world class museum with items related to the 18th-century wars at Ticonderoga. Stroll down to the peaceful King's Garden, a 1920s era pleasure garden overlooking Lake Champlain. For a break, consider eating breakfast, lunch, or a light snack at the Log House restaurant and don't forget to pick up some gifts for family and friends at the museum store. After you've seen the Fort, head into town with our map that takes you to our outer Revolutionary War dependencies of Mount Defiance and Mount Hope. Finish your day with ice cream in the town of Ticonderoga and check out our scenic Bicentennial Falls. While the kids use the playground, marvel at the La Chute Falls. The Falls were instrumental in the creation of Fort Ticonderoga, and later the town of Ticonderoga, as it powered sawmills. Later the falls were used by International Paper Company. If you have time today, check out the Ticonderoga Heritage Museum in the red brick building adjacent to the Park. The Museum chronicles the importance of the paper and pencil industries in Ticonderoga. Or come back tomorrow. Relax at dinner at one of Ticonderoga's many fine restaurants. Day Two Explore Ticonderoga - the town that brought you the graphite to make Ticonderoga Dixon Pencils and the town that still brings you high quality paper from International Paper Company! Begin your day at the Hancock House, Ticonderoga's Historical Society on Montcalm Street. Located in a replica of the Boston home of John Hancock from the American Revolution, the museum houses exhibits on the history of Ticonderoga. Then head to the other end of Montcalm Street to visit the Ticonderoga Heritage Museum where the exhibits chronicle the history of Ticonderoga Dixon pencils and International Paper Company. You will marvel at the photographs that show the paper factory right outside the museum's window. Now the view is of serene Bicentennial Park, with International Paper Company located outside of the town. After visiting the museum, take a break and play a round of miniature golf at Riverside Miniature Golf, just up from the Heritage Museum. Have lunch in town or buy the makings of a picnic and eat overlooking the La Chute Falls in Bicentennial Park. Then head across the street to the Town Offices to visit the Ticonderoga Cartoon Museum.
