A brief look at Fort Ticonderoga’s tumultuous history shows that the site is rich with world- changing events that may have left their mark on the landscape in more ways than one. The grounds around Fort Ticonderoga have been inhabited for tens of thousands of years by Native populations. The first European to set foot in the region, Samuel de Champlain landed on the site 400 years ago. The Fort itself was built in 1755 and occupied by troops from a number of countries through the French & Indian War and the American Revolution. Hundreds died in the battles and from disease and poor conditions.

Are the hoof beats and footfalls, the French voices, red-coated figures, and silhouettes in windows somehow related to Ticonderoga’s rich and often violent past? The Ghosts of Fort Ticonderoga Tour provides an in-depth look at the wide variety of unusual experiences reported by staff and visitors over the decades and they places they were experienced!
