The Legacy Society recognizes those persons who have established planned gifts to benefit Fort Ticonderoga. A carefully considered charitable gift and estate plan gives you more control of the assets you have worked hard to accumulate and allows you to minimize taxes and maximize your financial and charitable goals.

A charitable bequest is as simple as specifying in your trust, will, or codicil the dollar amount or percentage of your net residuary estate you wish to bequest to the Fort. You also can fund a bequest by designating the Fort as a beneficiary of your retirement plan, such as an IRA or 401(k) plan, or your fully-paid life insurance policy.

Life income gifts enable you, your spouse, or your beneficiary to continue to derive income from your gift assets. Charitable trusts are extremely flexible and, tax-wise, can reduce your exposure to income tax, capital gains tax, and estate settlement costs.

"Fort Ticonderoga is the most important historic site in America [we want] to guarantee that future generations will be able to enjoy it."

- Ralph and Mary White, members of the Legacy Society
