Support the Fort: Capital Campaign
Mars Education Center Opening & Construction
We are currently nearing the end of the first phase of a $25 million capital campaign to rebuild the magasin du Roi (King's Warehouse) and begin renovation of the Pavilion, the Pell family home located below the fort. The magasin du Roi, built by the French in 1756 and intentionally destroyed in the face of a British siege in 1759, houses a modern education center. The Deborah Clarke Mars Education Center allows us, for the first time, to offer exhibits and programs on a year-round basis to our visitors.
We are nearing the home stretch in our fund raising efforts but still need your help to raise the final $1 million.
If you are a New York State taxpayer, the Empire Zone Tax Credit program rewards gifts specifically for the Deborah Clarke Mars Education Center. Your support for this project may generate a NYS income tax credit on your taxes equal to 25% of the amount of a contribution. This incentive is in effect through June, 2009.
