To obtain an invitation to Fort Ticonderoga encampments, the commanding officer of your group must submit a letter of application describing your group's portrayal and its attitude towards safety and authenticity. It is important that references be included from historic sites, museums, historical societies or other organizations with which your group has worked. It will also be helpful if your letter includes an endorsement from a senior commander or group that already participates in Fort Ticonderoga encampments. Your application should be accompanied by color photos of members in their period clothing, with their weapons, tents and other equipment. Only units that satisfactorily document a safe and authentic approach to living history will be added to our invitation list. Additional Information for Sutlers Since Sutler Row is located adjacent to the 18th-century camps, your tents, signs, goods, display racks, visible containers, price markings, and personal appearance must be appropriate for the period and place. In addition to the Guidelines for Re-enactors, sutlers are expected to follow the Guidelines for Sutlers. The sutler Guidelines contain, among other things, a list of items which may not be sold or displayed at Fort Ticonderoga encampments and the fees that sutlers are charged, based on the square footage they will occupy. A copy will be mailed to each sutler with their first invitation and at each future revision. To request a copy, contact the Fort’s Special Events Coordinator. To obtain an invitation to Fort Ticonderoga encampments, sutlers must submit a letter of application. Please include a list of events in which you have participated and photos of yourself, your goods and tents, set up and open for business. If you have a brochure or catalog, please enclose a copy. Sutlers who satisfactorily document a cooperative attitude and authentic approach to their trade, will be added to our invitation list. Since we generally have more sutlers on our list than we have room for, invitations are sent out according to seniority (how long you’ve been coming to our encampments) and uniqueness of goods (how many others are offering the same items as you). |
