David Hackett Fischer to speak and sign new book: "Champlain's Dream"

David Hackett Fischer: Appearing November 1st in the Mars Education Center at 2pm to discuss his new work, Champlain’s Dream. Mr. Hackett Fischer will be signing his book, as well.

Bateau Building

Fort Ticonderoga and Lake Champlain Maritime Museum Build Bateau

Starting with a pile of heavy white pine, white oak planks and a variety of planes and drawknives an authentic British wooden bateau will come together on the grounds of Fort Ticonderoga this season.

Two stalwarts in the preservation and re-creation of Colonial American traditions, Fort Ticonderoga and the Lake Champlain Maritime Museum have collaborated on this project.

Working only with hand tools and using construction techniques that date back to the 18th century the bateau will take shape...

It's Harvest Time

Riley and Linnaea Chapman help harvest water chestnut from the bay below Fort Ticonderoga on July 24, 2008. Volunteers working with the Nature Conservancy and Fort staff harvested over 335 lbs of the invasive weed!

FACE of WAR New Exhibit Now Open!!

Our first new installation in over 50 years is a soldier’s-eye view of the French & Indian War at Fort Ticonderoga in 1758 and 1759. This Indian is one of four life-size figures that lead visitors ‘through the trenches’ with displays, video and audio and hands-on displays. 9 – 5 daily in the Mars Center Gallery!

At least, that’s what 12 teachers from around the States are doing at Fort Ticonderoga – taking part in a Living History course given by Joe Ryan and Fort Staff.
