The King's Garden

Heliopsis and Balloon flowers in the walled Gardens
The stately King's Garden flourishes behind the Pavilion, the former hotel and Pell family estate on Lake Champlain below Fort Ticonderoga. Responsible for purchasing and preserving the Fort and its environs, generations of the Pell family enjoyed gardens where military troops and early settlers once cultivated food crops.
Today's garden recreates the estate's Colonial Revival garden of 1921, designed by Marian Cruger Coffin, a leading landscape architect of her day. This formal design incorporates brick pathways, a teahouse and the reflecting pool with thirty-two colorful flower beds.

Outside the walled garden the "Discovery Gardens" – a children's garden, military (garrison) garden, and Three Sisters Garden, plus a restored greenhouse originally constructed by Lord and Burnham, offer delights for all ages.
Tours and programs are conducted for visitors from June 1 – Columbus Day.
