Mark Turdo, assistant curator and an experienced reenactor, is the staff liaison for the Fort’s reenactments. Planning for the event will begin in early 2009. Mark will be in contact with unit commanders and sutlers at that time.
If you have any questions or concerns, please email Mark at mturdo@fort-ticonderoga.org
We look forward to working closely with you in the 2009 season.
Grand Encampment of the French and Indian War, June 27-28, 2009 – The Grand Encampment of the French and Indian War assembles here, on the grounds of that conflict's greatest North American battle, thousands of period reenactors depicting Colonial American, British, French and Native American forces – in numbers approaching those present here in 1758 during the Battle of Carillon fought on the Fort grounds. Highlights of the weekend include authentically recreated military camps, merchant "sutlers" selling 18-century styled wares, and daily military demonstrations.
In 2008, the Grand Encampment at Fort Ticonderoga is the signature event of the New York State French and Indian War 250th Anniversary Commemoration Commission, and marks the 250th anniversary of the Battle of Carillon.
