New York Social Studies Standards at Fort Ticonderoga

Many of the New York Social Studies Standards can be addressed using the resources at Fort Ticonderoga. Three examples follow:

#1 History of the United States and New York

Students should be able to "weigh the importance, reliability, and validity of evidence." Students should be able to "consider different interpretations of key events and/or issues in history and understand the differences in these accounts."

Students should be able to "understand the concept of multiple causation," and "view historic events through the eyes of those who were there, as shown in their art, writings, music, and artifacts."

#3 Geography

Students should be able to "ask geographic questions about where places are located; why they are located where they are; what is important about their locations; and how their locations are related to the location of other people and places."
