In-School Programs
“A Soldier’s Life at Fort Ticonderoga”
Grades 3-8
Program available Monday-Friday, November-April
Bring History into Your Classroom
You can bring some of Fort Ticonderoga’s history into your classroom
with this new outreach program. An Interpreter from Fort Ticonderoga,
dressed in 18th-century clothes, will bring reproduction items from a
soldier’s everyday life at the Fort. The objects will help illustrate the
rugged experience of soldiers and their families at this wilderness
outpost. Included in the program are some activities for students relating
to garrison life at Fort Ticonderoga.
The program is designed for one or two classrooms (up to 50 students)
for up to an hour and a half.

We Can Design an In-Classroom Program to Meet Your Needs
When possible, we can design an In-Classroom Program especially for
your needs. We’ve done a program on Colonel Henry Knox for Elementary
students at Johnsburg Central School who were reading Guns for General
Washington. We’ve also done programs on the military role of Lake
Champlain and on the preparations for winter at the Fort. If we can
develop a program for you, contact
Rich Strum, Director of
Interpretation & Education, at (518) 585-2821. Outreach program fees
apply, with an additional charge for mileage to cover a pre-visit
meeting between Fort staff and teachers.
