You may bring only pencils, notepads, and computers into the reading room.
All outerwear, briefcases, purses and pens must be left in the coat room or in
a locker. |
 |
The use of cameras and hand-held copiers / scanners is prohibited.
Photocopying will be undertaken by library staff @ 25 cents per exposure.
Unstable, rare or oversized materials and bound manuscripts may not be able to
be photocopied. The Curator reserves the right to refuse photocopy requests
due to condition or size restrictions. |
 |
Please keep all library materials flat on the table. Read large or delicate
volumes in a book cradle on the table. |
 |
Do not lean on library materials. Do not write on paper laid on top of
library materials. Tracing is not permitted without permission of library
staff. |
 |
If you need to hold a volume open to a certain page, a staff member can
supply you with a weighted "snake" to hold the book open. You should
not prop books open by other means, such as laying them down face open because
this can damage the binding. |
 |
Please turn pages carefully. Flipping through pages quickly or licking your
fingers to aid in turning pages can damage the books. Please consult a staff
member to cut uncut pages. |
 |
Unfold and refold oversized folded materials with great care. Ask for
assistance if the item is very large or you can not determine the folding
sequence. |
 |
Materials should not be left unattended. If you need to leave the reading
room for a period of time, notify the staff of the approximate time of your
return. |
 |
Notify a staff member when you have finished with an item. |
 |
Food, drink, chewing gum and cough drops are not allowed in the reading
room. |
