Access to the Fort's Collections
During the open season, visitors to Fort Ticonderoga view a portion of the object and archival collection inside the buildings of the Fort. Begin at the second floor of the South Barracks for a chronological history of the Fort utilizing the collection. Other rooms are devoted to themes such as music in the eighteenth century military, the history of the Pell family and
The Pavilion, and the musket and sword collections. Outside on the grounds visitors see the artillery collection.
The objects, archives, and library collections are accessible for research purposes throughout the year. Nearly 40 thematic research bibliographies serve as finding aids to guide researchers through the library collections. Historical inquiries may be made by mail or telephone. Photocopies requested via mail, telephone, or email will be charged a flat fee of $10.00 for any number of copies up to 20 pages. Additional copies over 20 pages will be charged at 25 cents per page.
Researchers are encouraged to schedule an appointment for large or specialized inquiries. Use of the collections is by appointment only. Researchers are asked to register each day, provide positive photographic identification and abide by the established collection use policies. A limited number of photocopies may b e made available for search use, as the materials’ condition, access restrictions, and staffing permit.
Materials in the museum’s library are not available through interlibrary loan.
